About Our Founder
For over 22 years, Tate has been the proprietor of Inspire DMV Hospitality and continues to be a sought out Food and Hospitality Consultant. On a daily basis, he works with a team of professionals to help food businesses measure and manage their operations and put them on the path to success. Using technology and innovation, he assists businesses with their challenges using the best technical integrations that move establishments to operational efficiency and profitability. Through the years, he has embarked upon several careers including preparing meals for D.C. charter schools and running Inspire Barbecue on H Street NE. They all share one thing in common-training those from marginalized communities to be employed in the food service industry. Tate made national news for offering job training to veterans and at-risk youth before the restaurant closed and were turned into condominium apartments.
Furard Tate is also the co-founder of DMV Black Restaurant Week. DMVBRW convenes Black restaurant owners, managers, chefs, caterers, thought leaders and financiers and connects them through the power of food and community. The strongest bonds and relationships have been fostered throughout this powerful network. These successful collaborations continue to sustain and promote Black DC throughout the world. He is a long time activist against food injustice and an advocate for positive Future of Work initiatives including helping marginalized communities obtain access to nutritious foods and jobs within the hospitality industries. Furard Tate fights for those who’s voices are unheard.
